Rouge Sim Opening (Belated)

I have been working on a post about the amazing Rouge Sim Opening event that I was more than honored to attend July 4th weekend, and here it is - rather late.

I always come to things late - just ask Rosie.  I'll find some hilarious, "lulz"-type stuff online and will i.m. her a link with something along the lines of "Omg, this is hilarious!".  To which she will inevitably respond with something such as, "You've never seen this before?  The lulz on that died like six months ago".  It never fails - I am always late - to social events, on blogging about things, on discovering music, viral internet crap, etc.  If I find it and enjoy it, it's likely been over and done for weeks or months already.

That said, the Rouge Sim itself - and the event to mark its opening - are worth relating; even if the telling is a few weeks late.

The sim itself was simply...well, amazing, really. Rouge Sim - designed by Eshi Otawara for CodeBastard "Codie" Redgrave - is a mind-boggling concept obviously created by someone with extreme talent. Seriously - check out an aerial shot; it is a terraformed, landscape-shaped Codie herself! Pure genius, folks.

Perhaps even more amazing than that was being in the same room with some of the biggest names in Second Life!  Seriously, it doesn't embarass me at all to say I was starstruck.  I saw people I have only read about (on blogs) or seen (on Flickr); people I have admired, respected, and enjoyed their visions of virtual life.  As I heard someone exclaim at the event, "it's like a who's who of Second Life!".  Indeed it was, and I was privileged enough to be in attendance.

You can check out the shots I took at the event in my "Events" category on Flickr; I was mainly concerned with getting good close-up shots of everyone (especially people I have admired from afar before).  I was very happy with how most of these turned out - especially the one used in this post of Codie herself in all her amazing, cool beauty.

Some of my favorites: Arteer Oliva, Eshi Otawara, Marx Dudek, Nika Dreamscape, Kimberly Mirabeau, Zoe Connolly, and Dakota Buck.  I'm still slapping myself for not snapping a better pic of me & Rosie's completely-innocent, longtime "crush" on Stephen Venkman himself (no offense, of course, to Miss Mirabeau, of course ^_^).
